Being surrounded by other bright, engaged and interesting students inspires everyone to reach for their best. HGM students pursue their passions with great commitment and the support of our school. That's why our small community of about 300 students has exceptionally high achievements in many different areas.
2022-2023
Science Bowl team A wins Olympus Invitational in which 38 teams competed from across the U.S.
Student wins Gold Medal Art Portfolio Award in the 2023 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Science Bowl teams A & B are presented with Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Congressman Cardenas
Eight students are semifinalists in USA Biolympiad (USABO) competition
Students win International Biology Bowl Novice Semifinals
Science Bowl teams place 1st and 2nd in 31st LADWP Regional Science Bowl competition and Team A is heading to the National competition
Twelve students (9 projects) qualify for State competition at History Day LA and will be representing Los Angeles in the California state competition
Science Olympiad team places 2nd in regionals and will compete in State
Student is semifinalist in USA Astronomy & Astrophysics Olympiad (USAAAO)
Science Bowl team places 1st in Prometheus Science Bowl Invitational (Virtual West) in which 40 teams competed
Science Olympiad team wins 4 gold medals at BirdSO Invitational in which 77 teams competed
Math Team takes 2nd place at BML competition
Student’s design wins 9th-12th grade category for LA County Libraries’ 43rd Annual Bookmark design contest
Royal Regiment Marching Band & Drill Team win LAUSD All-City Championship
Three students are selected as Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalists
