The dedication is amazing...
When I stopped by rooms 171 and 172 this afternoon they were filled with sleepy students who have spent night after night at school, along with coach Mr. Maine, preparing for Science Olympiad and Oceans Bowl. Both events take place this Saturday and both teams hope to defend their regional titles. The dedication was clear in all of their faces. "We left at about 11 last night" said Jennie Zheng, fresh off of her third place finish as a B team member in last week's Science Bowl competition and now looking forward to SciOly on Saturday. The passion for science is palpable and the camaraderie is heartwarming. We look forward to supporting them this weekend. Good luck to all!
Our HOUSE meetings today reflected the different personalities of their members. Besides the usual doughnuts, each house participated in some type of activity and many started making plans for additional events. I feel an event war coming on as one HOUSE plans a night trip to the Mt. Wilson Observatory. Hmmm...that's a hard one to compete with. I'm still trying to organize bowling! I'm sure we'll all come up with something interesting soon.
Finally, the day ended with our alum Randy Clemens stopping by to share his news on his first cookbook and his plans in the culinary world. We wish him luck in his new endeavors!
